The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. The Transport Department (TA) is tasked with transporting and supervising incarcerated individuals. These are the clients of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service who are moved between remand prisons and correctional facilities, to court hearings, and hospitals, among other places. TA also transports incarcerated individuals for agencies such as the Police, the National Board of Institutional Care, the Migration Agency, and psychiatry. JOB DESCRIPTION

As a correctional officer within TA, you will be part of a team consisting of two to four people, where everyone is responsible for different roles in the execution of client transports. You will encounter a wide variety of clients of different ages, backgrounds, and experiences. You will search, restrain with handcuffs, and supervise the client during transport.

The tasks of TA are varied, which means that your working hours may change from day to day. Evening, night, and weekend work may be included. The scheduled times are frame times, usually 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Nationally, it is more common to finish before the frame time ends, and in most cases, you will have a consistent start time. Frame time means that the employer can change the start and end times. Changes will be communicated before the previous shift ends. For example, a shift may be between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM (12 hours) or 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM (7 hours). Working hours are reviewed every three months. If you have worked more than planned, you will receive overtime compensation. If you have worked less, you will still receive your normal salary.

QUALIFICATIONS

The role places high demands on personal suitability. As a correctional officer, you need to be secure, stable, have good self-awareness, sound judgment, and integrity. Together with your colleagues, you will drive the operations, so you need to have good teamwork skills and be clear in your communication. It is important that you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's fundamental values of a humane view of humanity, respect for the individual, and belief in the potential for human development and change. You need to have good physical fitness to handle a sedentary job and to be able to act physically when required.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Work experience, including seasonal work, part-time employment, or self-employment. Internships and volunteer work are not considered equivalent to employment.
• A completed upper secondary education or other education combined with work experience that the Swedish Prison and Probation Service deems relevant.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Good computer skills.
• A valid driver's license (B) and driving experience.

It is advantageous if you have:

• Work experience in corrections, security work, social care, psychiatry, or healthcare and social services.
• Knowledge in relevant fields, such as behavioral science, criminology, psychiatry, law, and conflict management.
• Relevant language skills.
